I don’t know what it is right now, string of bad luck I guess, but I have received four (4!) packages in a row where each of them contained counterfeit fragrances!!! I’m always careful and do as much research as I can before buying anything including doing a character review of the seller and everything seemed to check out. These sellers all have well over 200 ratings and zero negative feedback so all looked perfectly harmless… I am so let down because I get so excited when I save up money and make a fragrance purchase, then wait the days for it to arrive only to find out it’s fake. Luckily, with every negative encounter I’ve been able to get completely refunded (I always record myself opening any package) which I know is not always the case, but that brings me to my topic.
After receiving counterfeit items from an apparently respectable seller do you ever leave neutral or negative feedback? Personally, I find myself being too kind-hearted and giving these sellers the benefit of the doubt that maybe they did not know the item they sold me wasn’t genuine. Recently, I had a “factory sealed” bottle from 2011 delivered to me and when I opened the cellophane and packaging the bottle had fingerprints on every square inch of it. What if the person who sold it to me wasn’t the one who tampered with it, all this seller did was keep it in their fragrance collection, unopened, for years and finally decided to sell it. Another instance it was a large volume seller who sells a variety of items and very few, if any, fragrances yet they sold me not one, but two fake Creed 120ml fragrances. Are they a fragrance expert? Probably not. This is where my dilemma lies. Do I negatively impact this seller’s reputation because they sent me fraudulent items, but they made it right and issued a total refund? I think there are many people out there who think this way, because we are good natured people, but is this leaving us and other fragrance enthusiasts vulnerable to future scams because no recording of negative trading has been attached to a particular seller’s account?
What are you thoughts on this? Scammers will never stop, but where do you draw the line between a scammer and a good natured seller put in a bad position?
