I’ve been wearing perfume since I was a little girl, heavily influenced by my grandmother’s collection. I may have a secret (not so secret now!) fondness for ‘old lady perfumes’.
I’m intrigued by unusual scents you don’t typically expect in a perfume…popcorn, crayon, rubber…slightly oddball notes.
I really enjoy a juxtaposition of conservative, almost stuffy smells with a dash of ‘what the heck is THAT?’ mixed in.
I am an artist, musician, and costume designer. I view perfume as another art form I’d like to explore.
The first fragrance I ever owned was…
Let’s see…it was probably atrocious but satisfying to my 5 year old self. I vaguely recall an Avon bottle shaped like a skunk. Oh, the irony! I have a strong memory of that scent, but so MANY of those Avon perfumes smell almost identical to me. Although I didn’t really like the fragrances, I’ve always loved the kitsch and wide variety of bottles from Avon. The sculptural qualities of the bottle and the light coming through the glass were a huge part of the joy for me.
The first fragrance I bought with my own money was…
Probably “Vivid” by Liz Claiborne.
My favorite fragrances is….
Too many to pick! But I find myself coming back to “Mackie” by Bob Mackie over and over.
I’m so exited to learn more!
