The question is kind of meaningless. The person who knows the science of chemistry would have a better understanding of interactions between molecules, and the person who’s an intuitive artist may be able to make creative conceptual leaps…but neither one of those means anything at all compared to simply knowing what materials smell like and how formulae turn out.
Which is to say: both of those people are equally unskilled beginners at the start, and they both need to put in the same amount of time and effort to learn perfumery. Neither one would have an easier journey than the other – they may take different approaches, certainly! But they’ll still end up spending just as much time sampling materials, making test formulae, iterating, taking notes, and repeating.
