Dear friends, I have a chemical question.
Aldehydes form acetals with alcohols or Schiff bases with amines. So when you add, for example, hydroxycitronellal to ethyl alcohol, it forms an acetal with it. And if you add hydroxycitronellal to indole, it forms a Schiff base. This doesn’t happen immediately and usually takes time. Does the order of addition really matter when you create a complex mixture? What is more stable in bottles and on skin, acetals or Schiff bases?
