New for 2022, the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate collection has relaunched with an impressive shade expansion and enhanced formulas. There are now four shades of the Shade and Illuminate Contour Duos, and four shades of the Shade and Illuminate Highlighting Duos. I have all the info here for you.

What is Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo?

This contour duo is one of the brand’s OG products and was quite the game changer. The compact, which features a cream bronzer and cream highlighter, originally launched in one shade, called Intensity 1.

In 2019, the shade range expanded with shades Intensity 0.5, Intensity 2 and Intensity 3. For 2022, we have a rejig of formula and shades across the Contour Duo collection, with new highlighting shades.

Originally, all the highlight shades were the same across the Intensities, but now with the new 2022 collection, the highlight shades increase in colour and depth as you work up the numbers.

The new Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duos for 2022 now use treated pigments and a cream-to-satin formula.

Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo Intensity 0.5 2022 Edition

The only sample of the new formula and shade collection I have is Intensity 0.5, which is ideal for my skin tone.

It features what I believe is the original highlight shade which is a gorgeous sheer and softly glossy texture that gives the skin a stunning natural looking glow.

Importantly, I don’t notice any real difference in how the formula feels, and both shades share the elegant silky emollient quality of the originals.

Is Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo Intensity 1 2022 Edition different?

Whilst I don’t have a sample of the new Intensity 1 for 2022, I do know that there has been a slight shade change and the new formula delivers a slightly warmer tone. Before, Intensity 1 was more cool-toned and good for contouring, whereas the new shade is more bronzy.

Here are the swatches of the contour shades of Intensity 0.5 and Intensity 3 that launched in 2019. I know that the shades have been tweaked, but I thought this might be helpful to demonstrate how the shade range has changed.

I think that Intensity 3 is now a lot deeper, and that Intensity 2 is probably nearer where Intensity 3 looked in 2019. I hope that makes sense!

This is such a brilliant product, so it’s great news that the shade range has been expanded to cater for a much wider range of skin tones.

What is Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Highlighting Duo?

The first iteration of these new Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Highlighting Duos came back in 2015 when the duo first appeared as the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo Moodlight. It launched as part of the Autumn 2015 collection. Moodlight exists in this collection, however, I believe the shade has been adjusted.

For 2022, the duos are now called the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Highlighting Duo and the collection comes in fours shades, just like the Contour Duos above.
