I was mucking around today with my recently bought ingredients, mostly synthetics and a few essential oils. I was entering what I was doing into the software I have (free download from perfumers world) and if my formula contains vanilla absolute and I press on the wizard it says “not suitable for perfume”, in fact it doesn’t seem to be suitable for anything. If I remove the vanilla from the formula it’s happy again.
My understanding was that essential oils and absolutes are fine to use in perfume, am I incorrect on this?
I have some ethyl vanillin and such I can use next time, I just couldn’t today as I couldn’t get the container open 
. I’d like to know for future reference however if I’m safe to use my essential oils and absolutes.
